 Hope you all like it

STORYBOAD PROCESS

                STORYBOARD PROCESS
Every storyboard has a process and we haven taken pictures of our process during the design of it!
Here I left you some of the pictures that Paloma took yesterday!

INSTITUTIONAL INFORMATION
The audience information is about who is in the film and the people that is involved in different stages of production such as editor, costume designer, director, actors, etc.
Our institutional information is created with a software called office and you will find it in posters and trailers!

FILM PROMOTION

Film promotion is the practice of promotion specifically in the film industry, and usually occurs in coordination with the process of film distribution.
When a movie is made, the film crew starts promoting it through various means such as advertisements, websites, tv etc which includes spending lot of money. Since past decade with the advent of digital technology a lot of money is being spent on movie before it hits the theater.
We can say that without film promotion the audiences will not have no idea about the film and producers will lose money because nobody will know when the films are at the cinemas.

                                  OUR FILM PROMOTION

Also we have created social media network to promote our film!
Here I left you some photos of the websites we used, such as Facebook, Instagram...

ANALYSIS OF OUR FILM POSTER

Today I'm going to analyse our movie poster. The genre of our film is action adventure film with lost of other elements in it aswell. It has something for all of the family.
The main image, when you look at the poster the first thing that you notice are the two characters in the centre of the poster. By having them lit up in the centre of the poster the audience can see that they violence is the most relevant thing of the movie.  Paloma holding the gun in front of Carmen shows that she is the one dominating the situation. Instead if you look at Carmen's face you can see she is scared and unprotected. The audience can identify perfectly who is the good and the bad character.

The colors that are used in this poster are representative of the countryside, brown, green, red...also with high key lighting because the scene takes place at the afternoon. The costumes of the two girls are riding clothes, and by this we can know the film is going to be relating with horses, stables...
By iconography, the audience learn a great deal about the narrative of the film from this poster. As I have already mentioned they can clearly identify the good and bad characters. In addition to this they can see that there is going to be action and fighting because of the use of iconography of gun.
As well as this, we just can see the facial expression of one of the two characters, as I said before and by other we can not see already the face of the character with the gun, which transmit to the audience mysteriously and a bit of intrigue. This attracts that the audience as it shows that the film is going to full of action and excitement.
The color red is used for the title of the film "Wild Experience" which emphasis maybe the danger that the character will live at this adventure.
And finally at the bottom of the poster we have the credits, were you can se the name of the main characters, the director and of course the productions names.

OUR FILM POSTER

After a hard work, our film poster is finished.
Paloma was encharged of making them, Rocio helped her by searching sofwares to created them, and finally I helped her with the pictures!

At first we didn't know which poster use because we make a few of them but finally we decided to choose this one!

It's seen an easy task but we had to choose between these posters:

ANALYSIS #2

An onlooker would firstly acknowledge Bella as she is the centre of the poster, this indicates that she is the focal point of the narrative and she is therefore the main character in the film. Next, they would acknowledge Edward; whilst recognising he also plays a vital role in the film and that the two characters have a romantic connection. The tagline would be the next attribute noticed which presents Edward with an air of mystery (as the tagline refers to him) and further supports the assumption of a love story. Attention would then be diverted towards the bottom left hand corner, which shows Bella’s hand lightly touching Edward’s chest; as one naturally looks towards the bottom right corner, and to the eye it is revealed the title of the film.

The camera shot used for this film poster is a close-up of the two main characters, Bella and Edward. This shot is used to express emotion reflected through the facial expressions and the mood represented through body language and character positioning. Let us begin with analysing Bella; the expression on her face is one of content, she looks as if she is deep in thought and at peace with her surroundings. We can see her hand gently touching Edwards’s chest almost as if she’s touching the place where his heart would be, suggesting that these two characters are emotionally connected. She seems to fit neatly underneath him, enforcing this idea of a missing jigsaw piece that has finally been found and placed where it belongs.

Bella nestles into Edward and looks comforted by this act of affection. The space here so clearly emphasised by the outline of light gives off this impression of the electricity between the characters and reflects a major part of the narrative. Bella’s hand may also symbolise her pushing him away at a distance, but the positioning of her fingers suggest she’s pulling him in closer.
Edward has been placed above Bella at a canted angle, which gives the impression that there is something extraordinary about him. Bella sits underneath him appearing vulnerable, as Edward towers over her protectively yet lovingly.

The lighting used on Bella is very warm, Bella is the image of innocence, youth and natural beauty. Edward’s use of low-key lighting highlights his perfect bone structure and angular features.

The use of the black background symbolises night time as it creates a dark, mysterious and alluring atmosphere. The mood suggests a calming, tranquil peace and conventionally reflects the gothic genre, with the contrast of the black background and pale white complexions of the characters skin.

Finally say that the film title which has been located in the bottom right hand corner contains this glistening silver tone which adds to the realm of coldness established within the persona of Edward. The only mention of any institutional context of the movie’s production is that it has been created by SUMMIT Entertainment.

GOOD FILM POSTER

This post is about a research in film posters, I  have been looking forward some posters and finally I have chosen my favorites ones.

ANALYSIS #1

                                                                    Take a look!

This poster is one of my favourites due to the way it includes a lot about the narrative but yet we still don’t know what the main situation because it’s so interpretable.
We firstly see the mise-en-scene that everything is connoting destruction , it’s as if this poster is denoting a dystopia due to an important and famous building being destroyed. The most eye catching thing on the page is the White House because we firstly see that it’s burning and a window smashing denoting destruction. My interpretation of the film context is that there is something taking place within the building because of it being the main focus, possibly having a political message ;and seeing a character walking towards it with a gun connotes he is the protagonist who will deal with the situation.
We can say that this film is an action-thriller because of the props such as the helicopters, the gun, , fire, the colours used and the American flag.  The clouded sky above is significant in the poster because it firstly connotes a dark side to the story and also blocks the light out influencing the low key lighting used on the poster. The consistent colours used on this poster are red and white which both connect to the American flag and the typography such as the tag line, title and name of actors.  We see a low angle-long shot of the character walking toward the house, and the fact that he is in mid motion of walking and we see fire and smoke coming out the white house, which gives it that authentic action type look. The tag line also intrigues us saying ‘The White House under siege. ‘A Nation under attack.’  The colour red is used for ‘A Nation under attack.’ Which emphasis the nation or possibly the White house has been attacked. They raise the expectation of this film not just by the tag line but by the use of the star system which shows world renowned actors, therefore widening the audience and including their own fans.

        ANALYSIS OF TWO FILM POSTERS

TYPES OF FILM POSTER
A film poster (also called a movie poster) is a poster used to advertise a film. Studios often print several posters that vary in size and content for various domestic and international markets. They normally contain an image with text. Today’s posters often feature photographs of the main actors.
Film posters are displayed inside and on the outside of movie theaters, and elsewhere on the street or in shops.
There are different types of film posters there are three types of common poster these are teaser poster, character posters and lobby cards.

TEASER POSTER
Teaser posters are small film posters that reveal the films releash without giving away too much of the film such as main characters were the film is set or the plot the main purpose of the teaser poster is to raise awareness of the film and generate Hype so that people go to see the film that is why it is called a teaser poster as it teases the people looking at it so that there curiosity gets the better of them and they will go and look the film up and even go and see it when the film is released this is an old trick people use in advertising an old trick but it has proven to work time and time again when the film is released teaser posters stop being produced while the film is out as the general hype of people talking about the film will spark the interest of others.

CHARACTER POSTER
A character poster is usally only made if there are group of people in the cast that act as stand alone characters these film posters are usally pretty big and can be seen on the side of buses on adshells and sometimes on the side of buildings the posters usally include a photograph of the actor and a sideline that best describes the character in which the actor is playing my favourite example of this was Guy Richy’s film “Sherlock Holmes: a game of shadows” in which each of the main actors in the film were given there own character poster. A character poster is not as popular with the collectors like other posters.

LOBBY CARDS
Lobby cards are smaller posters usually eleven by fourteen inches in size lobby cards are collected and their value depends on there age quality and popularity lobby cards usally get sold in sets of eight and each card shows a different scene in the film  although certain films that were poular enough had no sets of lobby cards as the directors usally felt the films did not need them the best example of this film would be Micheal mann’s cult classic ” ManHunter”

RESEARCH

HISTORY OF FILM POSTERS

Film posters are a powerful visual element which promotes a film’s themes and narrative. Film posters over a long period of time were a significant part of the film industry, vital for advertising purposes. Before digital media, film posters were important in circulating a film star’s persona and embodying a film’s cult status. The use of Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe, major film stars in their day, are prime examples of how film posters reflects star power. Cult films like Scarface and Night of the Living Dead with their dedicated followings seek out film posters as a way of owning part of their passion. However, film posters seem to have become obsolete in today’s digital world.

Print Media and the beginning of Cinema
From cinema’s inception to television’s emergence in the 1950s, print media was the dominant form of mass media. Print media’s vast circulation had the ability to engage the public with advertising content. Gordon Gorey, an advertising expert, stated this period was a transition from ‘sound-oriented beings to primarily visually-oriented’ society. Gorey’s statement reflects that film posters were a sufficient form of advertising, as seen in the ‘Biograph Girls’ popularity. Film studios originally refused to give advertising credit to actors/actresses, so that film studios would not need to pay extra wages. Yet, Biograph Studios began to understand that exploiting their actresses’ popularity through advertising meant securing extra profits.

                                Publicity for Film Stars
As cinema progressed into a vastly defined medium, it meant film posters were essential in reflecting a film star’s personality. Charlie Chaplin’s “The Tramp” character in its day was widely beloved. Modern Times was Chaplin’s first cinematic release after a five-year interval. This had been due to a creative turbulence in Chaplin’s career, causing media debate. This made Modern Times highly anticipated, so it was important for Modern Times’ film posters to engage with this aspect. The image of “The Tramp” character in a characteristic mannerism, along with Chaplin in capital letters, was likely to engage film goers’ minds.

Marilyn Monroe, both in her film career and public life, was constantly personified through her sultry persona. The Seven Year Itch made use of Monroe’s sexuality in an iconic scene over a subway grate, shown in its film poster. The film poster presents the audience with this sensual image, coinciding with the film’s title. This could be interpreted as a attention-grabbing ploy to make audiences immediately take notice.
A publicity shoot for The Seven Year Itch, where two thousand people saw Monroe enact this pose, continued to show 20th Century Fox’s control of Monroe’s iconography. The Seven Year Itch’s box office profit of $10.2 million 4 and references to Monroe’s radiance 5shows film advertising’s success in constructing film stars’ iconography.

Film Posters in relation to Cult Status
Cult films are defined as containing a dedicated fanbase, which has developed a subculture engaging repeated viewings, quoting dialogue, and other forms of audience participation. Scarface is such a film, which has become legendary in popular culture for its frequently quoted dialogue and scenes of violent excess. Scarface related merchandise has become collectible for avid fans, including film posters due to its recognition as a landmark in the gangster genre 6. The above image symbolises Scarface’s cult following. One interpretation of the black and white background can be a metaphorical battle between good and evil. Scarface fans could possibly see the good versus evil symbolism as Montana’s internal struggle, therefore the film poster reflects his personality. Montana’s personality is part of Scarface‘s cult image, explaining why the film poster could have a sense of glamour for Scarface fans.

The decline of film posters...
In today’s internet age, digital media has overtaken print media. Both have similarities in their aim to increase sales of their products. Yet, digital media has greater capability to attract audiences. Digital media is able to be present on social media, websites and emails, which are used globally on a mass scale.
Film posters in the past have been powerful visual elements in promoting its subject’s themes and narrative. Analysing film posters in relation to major movies stars and cult films, they had the ability to express the subject’s characteristics. The film posters containing Chaplin and Monroe reflected their iconography that was recognisable to audiences. This also applies to film posters for cult films, they contain familiar attributes which fans enjoy. Despite this, film posters in an industry increasingly dominated by digital marketing are becoming obsolete. Digital marketing has the ability to contain more information regarding films than a film poster ever could.

LAST EDITING

Hello bloggers!
Today I'm going to be talking about my LAST editing.
It has been much easier than my first day because of the experience and work we have done.
At first when I see the program I thought that we wouldn't make it well because of the difficult use of the software. Rocio started with the trailers and unfortunately all the work she made was deleted... so she needs to repeated it again, but with hard work she learned how to used it and nowadays she control it very well!
During the editing I was giving ideas to Rocio and also support. She prefer to control she the computer because of her ability of the news technologies.
Finally with the help of the Mister my group and I get the two trailers achieving new knowledge of media studies.

Here you can see a picture I took during the editing at Media Studies Class!

MUSIC

At first when we started recording we thought it was an easy task founding a song for our trailers but when get started founding it we changed our think about it.  We found difficult to found the perfect song for our two trailers, but finally we get the perfect ones!
For the first trailer we are going to use a music from youtube that it called "Musica para trailer".
We think this song calls the attention of the audiences and makes the trailer more real.

And for the second trailer we are going to use song we took from also youtube called "Galantis-Gold dust ". When we ear it we thought it was  the perfect song for our trailer and we took it immediately. The trailer looks better with this song!
Here you have the song

EDITING EXPERIENCE

Hey there bloggers!
Today I'm going to be talking about how was my editing experience...
Last year I was doing the AS of media studies so I apply to our trailer some of the editing techniques of camerawork that we learned.
The program that we have been using is called Pinnacle. We know it from the last year I we think is the best one for editing our two trailers! .  So I have known how to used it more or less.

Rocio was the one charged of editing the trailers, but because of the difficult job I also helped her with some parts!
It wasn't a essay task....It took time to choose the best scenes, to cut it, also the font of the tittles..
But finally with effort and patient we get our trailers .

Here you can see some photos of how we worked at Media studies class with the program!

WORKING ON THE WEBSITE
